Employer Skills Forum

Background

Learning to wire an alarm systemThe consultancy arm of Trainagain specialises in skills research, analysis, sector and industry reports.

To encapsulate this area of work, Trainagain has come up with the phrase “Skills Economy”, which we define as the relationship between skills and regional and/or sector economies.

A great deal is written about qualifications leading to work but much less is said about the skills of people already in work – more specifically, the gap between the skills they have and the skills they need for the future health of the business.

Trainagain has produced a number of Skills Economy reports in recent years; focusing on the skills issues facing key sectors of regional economies.

Five reports are available for the Greater Cambridge area including a Further Education report looking at the supply of skills for industry. For the New Anglia area an initial baseline report is now available along with new Energy and Engineering sector reports. These are all part funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and have been commissioned by the Greater Cambridge Partnership and Shaping Norfolk’s Future, respectively.
